Michelle Bishop-Couch, MPA
I began my education with the intention of becoming a social worker. I obtained a B.A. in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Welfare and a minor in Psychology, graduating Cum Laude. As an undergraduate I recognized the desire to apply my education, experience and passion to the non-profit sector, thereby continuing my education in business, and completing a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in Labor Relations/Dispute Resolution.
With an education and intense passion for connecting those who are in need with those who have the means to help, I became a Development Director for non-profits: Girl Scouts, Alta Mira Specialized Family Services, and Director of the Children’s Miracle network for UNM. It was shortly after my eight-year career as a fund-raiser that I began my new endeavor as the Executive Director of Cornucopia Adult Day Services, Inc. in 2007.
Cornucopia, with the guidance and support of the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers has doubled in size and revenue, opened a new program, and secured funding to break ground for a green house to assist participants in education and self sustaining revenues for programatical needs. This is clearly financially difficult times for all, however it is an exciting time for an agency who is the only completely community inclusionary agency serving the South-Valley.
