Our Greenhouse: A Gift that Grows

Cornucopia Adult Day Services is the only agency in the South valley with a greenhouse program specifically designed to meet the physical, mental, and emotional needs of adults with developmental disabilities and the elderly. Cornucopia clients voluntarily participate in planting, tending, harvesting, packaging, selling, and consuming produce from the greenhouse according to their abilities and choices.

What Do We Grow?

The items we grow in our greenhouse change seasonally, but we always have something sprouting. Typically we grow specialty tomatoes, micro greens, all varieties of flowers, melons, and herbs.

A Unique Partnership With Local Restaurants

Cornucopia’s Greenhouse has started a unique partnership with some of Albuquerque’s favorite local restaurants. We are currently supplying several restaurants with fresh micro greens, such as arugula and basil, and a variety of specialty tomatoes on a weekly basis. All the produce is being grown locally by the clients at Cornucopia Adult Day Services and then being used in the restaurants’ menu items. The partnerships have been such a success for the Cornucopia Greenhouse that we will soon be expanding our growing selection to include restaurant requested items, such as mint and dill. Cornucopia is working on securing more relationships like this with other restaurants in our community.
